If you are reading this blog I am BEYOND excited to welcome you to the new website and brand for Alder and stone. It has been a longggg journey. I started studio eight just shy of three years ago and it has been such a great joy for me. Over the past three years I have had countless clients who truly become friends.
Going back to my WHY?
After closing out North garden lodge and Gozzer glam I was left feeling like I needed to shift my business and evolve. Although I loved Studio eight I found myself craving a more intentional company that truly captures what makes me happy. Through those two projects I fell IN LOVE with designing in a way that marries nature as well as luxury elements. I want to focus less on creating “cookie cutter” designs and move into a space where I was exercising my full design capability. I am inspired so much by nature, raw materials, glitz and glam. I wanted my business and the brand to speak more to this new outlook I have on design. I truly believe that designers are so creative and so ever changing that the very creation of the business itself is a creative outlet.
WHY Alder + Stone?
Let’s rewind to three years ago when I started studio eight. I was kind of at this crossroads where I needed to just get this business started. I liked the name studio eight but I was not in love with it by any means. People would ask me all the time – Why did you choose studio eight. And I always felt like I needed to have some grand reason for why I chose that for the name of my business. And I never did. So I resorted to telling people “idk I just liked it” which obviously lacked luster. So when it came to the new vision for my business I wanted to be able to capture the core of the company within the company name. At the very core of every interior design project is a design concept. On every project I take on I dive deep into selecting the appropriate materials for the application. So I knew it wanted to incorporate something to do with raw materials and nature. So then on my drives around Idaho I would play around with different combinations of materials. Alderwood? Pine-cone interiors? KIDDING. Pine cone interiors was never a runner up. But I landed on Alder and stone and it just felt right. It felt larger than studio eight. It felt intentional and it stuck in my mind. It never left my mind and I continued to hone in on this vision for Alder and Stone Interiors.
What’s NEXT?
I am officially opening back up the project calendar and accepting 2024 clients. I have been on maternity leave for the past few months and I am SO excited to get back into the swing of designing and working with clients.
Anywhooo that’s all for now 🙂
